At the other side of the wall,
in another room,
in another house,
or even in another city.
What you’re saying, is being heard.
I listen and I record it.
Serbs, Croats: I speak their languages, I understand their thoughts.
Get into their heads, their lives.
I spy on people with my ears.
I know things I am not supposed to know, things I must forget as soon as I close the door behind me.
Like I didn’t hear anything.
But I can’t. What you know, you can’t forget.
Certainly not when I hear things I am not supposed to hear.
When I hear on someone I know.
Friends. I listen and I keep my mouth shut.
And I am suspicious myself.
Other people keep an eye on me, listen in on me.
Microphones are hidden everywhere, in my living room, in the kitchen, in the bedroom.
I don’t know where they are, but they are there.
Everything is tapped.
Talking, snoring, going to the bathroom. Everything is heard.
I know exactly how it goes, how the system works.
Spy on spy on spy.
The system is watching.
I disappear into the night, between a microphone and a camera. I am a beep, a dot on the screen.
Look, there I am, there I am,
there I am ...
and I’m gone.
Can someone cut off the microphone?
Where is it anyway?
Can it be done?
OFF!
